Humming happily, the young, bespectacled woman rummages in the depths of an enormous backpack, occasionally lifting out an item in triumph. After each treasure has been carefully examined, the collector--for such she is--carefully places the item on the stage of a large table-top book press and cranks down the pressure plate. The resulting...er...object is then delicately removed and pasted onto the pages of a large gilt-edged book.

At last, satisfied with her evening's work, she turns back through the pages, savoring each one and reading the carefully written labels.

Qwalin
The gold coin has been pressed into a featureless puddle of gleam.

He practically sheds these. I think he likes their weight and shine, and they are very pretty. I like them because they're very good at blocking the pointy things that everyone seems to want to hit him and me with. Plus I can always tell where he is by the jingle. He's quite brave, although he'd never admit it. Sort of like having a strong, jingly wall next to me when I fight.

Geren
The object pasted here looks a bit like stringy leather. You try to avoid looking at it too closely. There is a lingering smell of beef jerky.

When I first met him, he showed me his meat. It was quite a haunch, too, I'll tell you. He seemed very taken with it. I don't think he noticed that I sliced off a bit as a memento. I think he would like Qwalin, because they both have the same hobby. They collect gold. I don't think they get it from the same place, though.

Bigby
The gilt-embroidered scrap of brocade, being flat already, is more recognizable than the other objects.

He's so pretty and sparkly. And very kind and helpful. Luckily he hasn't thought of giving me advice about my own clothes. He may think me beyond help, just as mum did. For someone so pretty, he's surprisingly willing to get his hands dirty for friends. A very interesting fellow.

Ewin
Although dried and discolored, you think you just might be able to make out the concentric layers of a very purple, very squashed onion.

I didn't get this from Ewin. He does not grow them as part of his body...at least I don't think so. No. He doesn't. He'd smell rather nasty if he did. But it made me think of Ewin. I wonder how many layers he has.

((More to come...still trying to figure out what Gnat would collect from Raven and others she has met...))
