Lost and Found?

About nine years ago, I "left" Saga.  Or, rather, I stopped coming around.  I landed in City of Heroes, and I loved it.  I helped build an LGBT group there, Pride, that survived the entire run, up the last minute, from the day the opened their global chat channels--maybe eight years ago?  I don't know, it's been a while.

Well, as you probably know, CoH shuttered their doors forever six months ago, and since then, I've been a bit "lost'.  I had played World of Warcraft, but it felt lonely, even though I had a couple of friends also playing for a while.  When they quit, it got lonelier.  The same with Star Wars: The Old Republic.  I'm currently in Champions Online, as @Circuit_Boy, but there's honestly not much to that game, although the revenant of Pride lives on there, lurching around with less than 10% of its original members.

So...  I'm bereft of community, at least in part, and a bit bored, to boot.

I left nine years ago because I really disliked EQII.  I looked at it again, and my aesthetic objections remain.  However, I see Saga is on The Old Republic, and aside from my loneliness problem, I actually rather like the game.

Are there any players Republic-side?  I saw you have an Imperial guild, but my main character is Jedi Consular 50 (T'Resias), Republic Side, also on Ebon Hawk.

Titia

Hello Lasgalen, nice seeing you around ! (I'm not sure you remember me, I used to play Deneteth on EQ/EQ2)

At the moment there are two guilds on the Light side: GEO (which is more a placeholder than anything, formed after the servers mergers) and The Serenity Initiative which should be more active. Catri can give you all the info you'd like.

Hiya Lasgalen! Nice to see you again!!  :wv

What a wonderful blast from the past. You had the greatest sig on the FV boards. You probably don't remember Mixxi from those days, but if you ever decide to play GW2 instead, come find the Saga folk there. Since there aren't many of us there anymore, we've taken up with a very Saga-like guild called Destiny's Hammer and are having a rollicking good time. Their guild leaders were actually part of Saga in SWTOR until their original guild migrated from WoW.

I'm so happy to know you're still in game somewhere. You brought so much to the FV community.

Tinwin

I remember you Lasgalen! :)
I might have left EQ around when you did i think, i don't quite remember. I recently came back here myself but i still only play classic EQ in Project 1999 hehe.

Project 1999:
Ozeneh - Erudite Paladin
Ninana - Half Elven Bard
Tinxin - Gnomish Enchanter
Twinwin - Gnomish Bard

Catri

I'm Catri. I joined the Saga division of  SWTOR shortly before the game launched and I also play GW2. :wv

The SWTOR situation is a bit complicated, but there are still active players. We're on the Ebon Hawk server.

GEO is the official Saga guild on SWTOR. I can arrange a tome to to add your characters to the roster if you would like. it's still open, and I think people log in every few weeks. At the time of the server merges a lot of Saga members had lost interest in SWTOR, so some of the active members at the time of the server merge went into another guild as a part of a guild merge and we kept GEO open for members who didn't want to be in the merge or for alts.

Things got a little bit rocky in the guild we merged with and the Saga members left along with some of the existing guild members we had gotten to know. Since only half of us were originally Saga, instead of coming back to GEO we started The Serenity Initiative. Although it is not officially a Saga guild we welcome any Saga members who want to send characters in.  I included a link to the New Members section of our website if you want to take a look around.

We can also work out a time to log in at the same time so i can add your characters to the GEO roster if you want.

It seems I have a near-eidetic memory for my time on Firiona Vie, so actually, Deneteth, I do remember you.  And Namae.  And Tinwin.  And Mixxi.  And even you, John Boy!

Our "Pride" group tried to form a guild on TOR, but...  ...well, no one's ever on, so it again makes for a lonely experience.  Sometimes, I'd see one other soul, maybe every other weekend, and that'd be it.  A bit disheartening.

I know this is bad of me, but I'm holding something of a grudge against NCSoft over the way they treated City of Heroes, so Guild Wars 2 (and Aion, and Guild Wars, etc.) is out for me, I'm afraid.

I actually have a friend starting up on...  ...Firiona Vie, of the classic game itself, oddly enough.  She's even chronicling her newbie adventures.  It's just one glance at the old FV boards shows me no activity since my birthday (over two months ago) and very little in several years in general.  I suspect it's a case of "You can't go home again."

I'll look into the Serenity Project.  The "Ethereal Knights" (the LGBT guild there) just isn't working out at all, in any way, shape, or form.

Vilidius

Hi Lasgalen!  It's always nice to see old friends stop by.  This is Valquiss, though more contemporarily I tend to be known as Vilidius so that's what I'm using these days.  We did have a strong presence in SWTOR for a while but I'm afraid it petered out rather abruptly.  Could go into reasons, but mainly just not enough content to hold us I think.  Personally, I'm on an extended break from gaming atm.

In addition to just welcoming you home, I'd encourage you to check out Project 99 where Menemas and a few others are playing lately.  And also to stick around generally.  There's always another game on the horizon.  Much as I understand your grudge against one developer, you might also keep an eye on Wildstar which might be the "next big thing" for Saga after GW2.  Though things change.

In any case, great to see you!
Valquiss, EQNL - TBD

Qwalin, GW2 - Tarnished Coast
Vilidius Truthsayer, SWTOR - Sanctum of the Exalted

I think you need to add Syllestrae to create a holy trinity of outspoken FV-ers. :)

Gith

Hello! I am relatively new. Year and a half ago or thereabouts with the rest of the crew that joined for the launch of SW:TOR. Welcome (back) to Saga :)

I am also on a bit of a break from gaming as is Vilidius right now. Mine is because of work and stuff but I hope to be back into it in a few months once I have some free time and I am actually in the same city as my gaming rig.

As Vilidius stated I think I will be trying out Wildstar as my next MMO excursion. I have been watching it develop and it is apparently coming out this year. Unless they really screw something up (always a possibility) it looks like it will be enough game to be interesting but still with enough silly for it to be fun and remind me this is a game and not work.

Give GW2 a try if you are looking for something to play right now. There are still many people that play it as far as I know (I never really got into it personally).

SW:TOR - Tecta (Dark) / ValGith (Light)
Diablo 3 - Alpharius #1269
Wildstar - Tecta
Lost Ark (NA East-Avesta) - Gith
WWZ - Gith_
FFXIV (NA-Cactaur) - Gith Redmayne

Hey, Nina and Valquiss.  :)  Always good to see familiar names.  Hey, Val Gith.

GW2 is just out for me.  It's NCSoft, and I still get steamed when I think of how we CoH'ers got treated at the end.  Not even a decent send-off.  Just...  blip!

Yeah, it may very well be that you can't recreate the first time, but I actually felt that way about CoH, and it was my second game.  I loved FV, and I loved CoH.  I like TOR, and I like WoW, and I'm okay(ish) with Champions (after getting used to the 'look').

I even recreated Lasgalen Lothir in City of Heroes, once they made "Plant Control" a Controller primary--Plant Control / Weather Summoning.  He was a "dr00d" there, too.  :)

I'll keep my eye on Wildstar.  Hadn't even heard of it before.

[Edit: Or maybe I had.  It's NCSoft, too, and it's what they're replacing CoH with.  :P ]

Menemas

Hello Lasgalen!  Good to see you again!
"I hate playing against you.  You, specifically.  You're the BEST F'n ball runner in the world.  I HATE when you're on the other side.  Oh, I'm Menemas, and I have 1.2 Billion health!"  - Xho.....about Huttball.

Lasgalen Lothir

Hey, Menemas!

So I think I've decided, for the time being, to stay with Champions Online.  It ain't perfect, and there's lots (LOTS!) about it that annoys me, but I'm feeling that way about everything.

I'll keep my eyes out here, though--bookmarked the forums.  I'm not "in love" with it the way I was in love with FV or City of Heroes, so I could bail on it if something else comes along and I have some friends go check it out.

Lasgalen Lothir

Oh.  Is there a Saga chat channel in the Perfect World games (Champions Online / Star Trek Online / Neverwinter Online [Beta])?

If so, does it require an invite?

PinkRose

Alirrin

You can communicate cross-game, although I don't know if they have the Neverwinter beta servers connected to CO and STO.  I have a fairly active face-to-face RPG life currently, so not much time for MMOs, but I do occasionally drop into both CO and STO when the mood strikes. (Neither GW2 nor TOR has really called me back recently, though.)

My Cryptic/PW handle is @Escher13, feel free to add me to your friends list and ping me if you see me on.  I don't know many people playing CO or TOR. :)
EQ2 - Antonia Bayle: Quince Flutterfoot, Frixobulus, Sunbeam

Lasgalen Lothir

I know with 100% certainty that the channels work cross-server between CO/STO/Neverwinter.  The CoX and Pride channels have people in all three games chatting in them all the time.

I'll add you next time I'm in.
