It's amazing how frequently, now, this feature is placed in the "someday-maybe-never" bin. In FFXIV, you can /sit next to nearly any flat surface, and your character will hop up and sit pleasantly. Crates, chairs, countertops, beds, stable-troughs...almost anything.

Step 1.  Assume the sitting position.
Step 2.  Have someone build the chair under you.

I noticed in today's Esper livestream that chat bubbles appear to be in-game too.

I'm glad, because I think that being able to sit naturally and "see" people talking helps me with the whole in-person RP. It always feels so awkward standing in a circle, reading my chat window.

Chat bubbles and sitting in chairs are definitely a nice thing to do for the RP community. Not many games can boast that.

Anyone remember City of Heroes? They had like half a dozen different sitting emotes, wall leans, etc..

City of Heroes (by the time it ended) had the most amazing collection of emotes. The best thing about that game was that the cities felt more alive than any other game. NPCs walked around, cars drove around, but most importantly... the foes did "interesting things" when they spawned.

So a group of three thugs would spawn, whip out cans of spraypaint, and start emoting using them on the wall. Or picking locks. Or digging with shovels. Or using jackhammers. And they took all these NPC emotes (that made the world feel so alive), and let the players use them too. It was excellent!

The Wall lean (although it's weird he's doing it in mid air instead of like.. against a wall >_< )



I was looking at an old wiki. They had more than a dozen styles of sit emotes- sit in chair slouch, cross legged, etc. It was nuts.

I find it amusing that the green guy and your avatar are doing the same wall lean. :)

Ha! I could have just pointed to her to show what the wall lean looked like.

I remember though, when using it in-game you sometimes had to try it a couple of times since if you didn't position right, you'd end up floating six inches ahead of the wall you were leaning against. :P
