I've been obsessed with to-do lists and apps forever. I've tried them all but I've finally found one I've stuck with and have made amazing progress with! I love SuperBetter and EpicWin, but this one is most like playing a game. Being able to lose HP makes a ton of difference as to whether you will actually do something, or blow it off.

The basic concept is simple: Do good things and you'll level up and earn money for rewards. Do bad things and you'll take damage, lowering your HP score and possibly killing your character. Points lost and gained happen in the first three columns, which all encourage you do to different sorts of things.

i.e.
Ethawn: "Why are you cleaning out the fridge at 11pm at night?"

Elly: "Because my avatar is low in health. If I don't do it by midnight, I'm going to lose 9 levels and my plate armor. That's not going to happen."

The Basic Interface

The Three Categories-

Most Important is Dailies. These are the things you MOST want to get done in your life. Enough that you are willing to take a hit for not doing it. Could be things like Exercise, Writing a Book, remembering to take medication or vitamins. Even though it says daily, you can set it to once a week if need be in "edit".

Habits- Random things, which are nice bonuses if they happen, or random occurrences you want to be penalized for.

Good Habit examples (+) Taking the Stairs, Meditation, Drinking 8 glasses of water

Bad Habit examples (-) Eating a sugary dessert, Stopping for Fast Food

To-Do's- Non repeating, and/or optional tasks. No penalty for not doing, although task will change to red if you ignore it.
i.e. Call to make Dentist appt, make potato salad for pot luck.

Cool Extras:

*Collect Cool Armor

*Loot drops in the form of pet eggs and hatching potions

*Collect pets, and raise them into Mounts

*at lvl 10, pick a class: Warrior, Mage, Healer or Rogue and get spells to use.

*Team Questing and Boss Battles! *Guild Options

Note: You can play this on your phone or ipad, but probably better to use it on your PC. It's free.

It has ads, but if you use Firefox with the AdBlock Plus Add-on, you will not see the ads. $5 a month subscription gets you ad free otherwise, plus extra armor and cool things. I will probably upgrade soon since I have gotten so much out of it.

If anyone else tries it out and likes it, let me know. It has Guild and party functions. I have a healer, I'd be happy to team up and try some of the quests and bosses. :)

Merila

Thank you Elly! I will definitely check this out. Self-care is a struggle for me, and the consequences to my mind and body have never been enough to keep me consistently taking care of myself (i.e. keeping a clean house, doing my exercises, eating consistently). EpicWin and SuperBetter have been pretty awesome and helpful, but I agree that the lack of negative effects on your 'character' leaves a bit to be desired. I'm excited to try this one!

Thanks again. :)
GW2 - Merila Dorne
SWTOR - Amaiko, Jenasha

I write poetry and fiction. You can read some here.

I'm in the same boat, Merila. Been dealing with a long term illness with lots of needed home therapies, etc. Hated doing them all and it was easy to blow off.

It can take up to a week of ticking off tasks to be able to afford a good piece of armor, not having my hit points get to zero and losing said armor is pretty significant motivation for me. Collecting and leveling up the pets has been fun, too.

It's sad "the Stick" works better in this case than "the Carrot" type of reward system. But whatever works!

So. You're saying I can make my life into an RPG now? :D

of course live is an RPG, build your stats, learn new skills, grind for cash, gain faction, enjoy the landscape, do silly emotes, deal with pros and noobs, sleep for exp bonus, eat well to maintain good stats... and most important enjoy the game  :D
