Name reservations

The Name reservation thread is hard for me to read. 80% of people posting there are so wrapped up in themselves & their lifestyle that they believe everyone's life works that way.

  I am a fan of a name reservation perk mostly because Ive been using "Forsetti" since EQ 1 in 99 & even though I add an extra T to the Norse spelling of "Forseti" the number of people using my version of the name over the passed decade has grown exponentially. Over the passed 5 years it has become such a problem that I am forced to pre-order & headstart then wait at my keyboard for the timer to run to zero in order to claim the name. That being said I do agree that 90 days is extreme mostly because 1/4 of the starting population will have dropped the game & moved on in that time. 1 week should be enough time for 90% of people with odd schedules & obligations to claim their names in game though I would not oppose a limit up to 3 weeks.

  I would like to add that I feel guilty for being one of the few who is in favor of the global hold. I am not without a capacity for spite in my veins & most of it is reserved for those without the minimal amount of creativity required to form a genera fitting, original name that could define their character. I take it personally when a person sees my name & likes it so much that they create a KSing, Griefer Ork on another server with the modified name of the Norse god of Honor & Justice. TMI, maybe, but also a brief moment of acute honesty.

Here is the official word on timing and reservation period.

Name and Guild Name Reservation submissions will go LIVE at 11am PDT 5/13

Submissions will be accepted from 5/13 – 5/23

* They will close at 11:59am PDT on the 23rd

Your reservation will be valid for 14 days Post Launch.  So on June 17th after our scheduled downtime, any unclaimed names will be released for public consumption.  Stay Frosty!

Yup. So 11am PDT is 2pm EST. I guess I am waking up early tomorrow for evening shifts!

Is this reservation done on the forums or in game somehow?

I got Saga Family. Tried to get Saga but it was already taken. >( I hate internet rushes like this.

I put in both my name and Saga. Elandrie immediately said "Character name taken", Saga did not give me that message, just a countdown timer that said ??. So... no idea. Maybe?
