We're excited to announce that on May 8th, we will be starting Open Beta! Through May 18th, you'll be able to continue to explore Nexus up to level 30, and get familiar with exploring, fighting and questing as we make our way towards head start and launch!
As part of pre-ordering WildStar, you'll be able to make an even bigger mark on Nexus by registering one character and one guild name prior to launch! That means your desired name will be safer than a datachron in a Draken's dreadlocks. Try saying that three times fast.
The name reservation page will only be available from May 13th through May 23rd, so be sure you check back to the site early so you can get your top choice, as reservations are first come, first serve. We will also have a FAQ section on the name reservation page that'll fill you in on all of your questions, including name restrictions, which servers the name will be saved to, and more.

Added difficulty: I think (if I understand it right re: reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/251osd/names_reserved_globally_across_servers_that_cant/), all names and guild names for the reservation process are game wide, regardless of server due to technical limitations.
So- you grab what names you can, then after the game goes live and you officially pick your server. After a while your reserved names (and everyone elses) will be freed up on all the servers you did not choose.
Going to make it rough for guilds with common'ish names such as Saga.
The powers that be here should decide on back-ups for something suitable should "Saga" be a no go for now. (If the party that gets Saga ends up rolling on say a PvP server.. it's possible Saga could be grabbed at a later time post launch.)
Maybe SAGA or The Saga - both will work I think

I believe that each person gets 1 character name & 1 guild name so multiple names will most likely not be an option. I also think (and I may be wrong because I know only a few here) That it will be Rumze (guild leader) or Val Gith (officer) to reserve the guild name so as not to create confusion & complicate its creation.
Whoever can grab it , do so and let others know . It'll end up being Saga or The Saga. I believe capitalizations don't matter .
Important to note that even if we don't get it during name reservations , we could probably still get it at launch. Name reservations are across all servers but at launch , if the name is used on another server, it frees up the name usage on every other server.
I reserved a copy at GameStop (I insist on disks when I can get them), so I'll be joining the flight to Nexus (though I still plan on playing EQ2 and SWTOR).

Name reservations go live on the 13th, correct? Anyone know what time in what time zone?
They have said they will release more info on an official name reservation page - I've been keeping an eye out for that but nothi yet
A few things to note: In the last two launches I've participated in the servers were active before the stated time. In one the server was open for name reservations well over an hour before the time they stated. Another thing is they have announced, unless they have already changed their mind on this, that names will be on hold for 90 days at launch.
I am not thrilled about name reservation setup at all. I think it's more of a hassle in the end than a benefit. It would have been better if the names had been global and they allowed spaces in names. That way if a name was taken one could simply use a first, last name. As it is one will only have one name for sure.
Say the rest of the names they wish to use for alts are somewhat common names it's likely they will get taken by someone else and they won't be available for 3 months into the game. I would have rather just taken my chances at launch and got most of the names I wanted especially given the fact that the name reservation system goes on for a few days so, that's enough time for people to try out different name combinations.
Oh, as of yesterday Cougar said they are going to reduce the 90 day limit but have not stated by how much. If you click on the Previous Developer Post you can see how they came to that decision.

The Name reservation thread is hard for me to read. 80% of people posting there are so wrapped up in themselves & their lifestyle that they believe everyone's life works that way.
I am a fan of a name reservation perk mostly because Ive been using "Forsetti" since EQ 1 in 99 & even though I add an extra T to the Norse spelling of "Forseti" the number of people using my version of the name over the passed decade has grown exponentially. Over the passed 5 years it has become such a problem that I am forced to pre-order & headstart then wait at my keyboard for the timer to run to zero in order to claim the name. That being said I do agree that 90 days is extreme mostly because 1/4 of the starting population will have dropped the game & moved on in that time. 1 week should be enough time for 90% of people with odd schedules & obligations to claim their names in game though I would not oppose a limit up to 3 weeks.
I would like to add that I feel guilty for being one of the few who is in favor of the global hold. I am not without a capacity for spite in my veins & most of it is reserved for those without the minimal amount of creativity required to form a genera fitting, original name that could define their character. I take it personally when a person sees my name & likes it so much that they create a KSing, Griefer Ork on another server with the modified name of the Norse god of Honor & Justice. TMI, maybe, but also a brief moment of acute honesty.

Ok, got Tecta reserved. It says "Saga" and "Saga Family" are reserved. So I think we are good to go. I am pretty sure you got it Rumze. Just don't touch anything for an hour until the timer expires so it is cemented.
I hate people that see cool names during Beta and steal them. That is why I usually take the name but play under a different name.

It immediately told me if the name was taken (when I was trying to get guild names) so the ?? I think means the timer is loading for your 1hr of editing time. You should be good?
When I log back in it shows the countdown timer. It takes forever to get back in though.

Wow, what an affair. I was fortunate to finally get a couple of names I was after. For everyone that have had/are struggling with the name reservation I wish I could pour you a drink :brfm because when I said this was turning out to be more of a hassle than a benefit I had no idea today would go like this. If anyone is still getting the ?? when trying to save their name all I can say is keep trying as that is how I eventually got all the names I was after.
Oh, and as long as at the top right it says you are logged in just continue hitting the Reserve button. Eventually the reservation window will open. Just check occasionally if you are still logged in because sometimes that times out.
So now when I login it tells me I need to pre-order ... which I have.

Note: Saga is really gone, unfortunately.
Saga is a popular guild name and the fact that it is global locked meant we had a lot of competition. Luckily The Saga is pretty good , at least in my eyes.
i wanted to repeat something that was on the forums. this was the only reason I was able to get my name after hours of trying.
Alright guys I'll make this easier. This is for Chrome, It'll work in Firefox as well. When you are on the screen where you can submit your Guild/Character name, click on CTRL/SHIFT/I - a window on the bottom will open. On the top right, click on the >--- button (arrow with 3 lines) - this will open the "Drawer" on the bottom, which is a box where you can type text in.
In here, type the following:
Character Submit: $('.ws-editable-editing button').eq(0).click();
Guild Submit: $('.ws-editable-editing button').eq(1).click();
If it comes back with a 500/502/503 error it failed, use arrow up button to get the text back, and click enter to submit it again.
The error is not the same on fire fox.

The system only allows 1 guild & 1 character name reservation per account then there is a 1 hr timer allowing you to edit your name. Unfortunately this means that unless you were saving names on multiple preorders, you were actually saving over the previous name each time :(

Its safe to say things did not go as planned today and we understand that this sucks for those that have Pre-ordered and that have been excited for Name Reservations. Our immediate action will be to take Name Reservation down. For us, this is a number one priority to get this resolved.

I found Tecta (which is never taken) by looking through weird chemical and medication names. Actually a good source for random and sometimes cool sounding names. Tecta is actually a stomach acid medication apparently :o

I typically get my character names by plugging a characteristic into Google Translate and trying various languages until I get something I like the sound of.
Also use the method I posted on top of page 5 to see if your name is reserved , if you get numbers in the results then you are good .
Although the Devs tweeted that it's a server error , I'd double check to make sure .
Hopefully by now the bugs have been worked out and everyone is good

So, apparently, despite my not realizing my earlier attempts were unsuccessful until the middle of the night, apparently nobody else in the world was interested in the name Nobby. Score!
Sounds like most people were able to get names they are happy with and I am glad. And after double checking, my names are good as I was also reserving for someone else. I spent way too much time trying to sort that out yesterday and am just glad it's over.

I reserved "Dominion Surveyors Office" thought it would be a good RP name with a broad premise. I was also thinking about "Shadow Saga" for a dark side guild name. I have begun to suspect that our name reservations are a one shot deal. In the current beta system I could not use my name on a second server.
I am thinking that once you use the name you have reserved it will be locked on other servers even for you. Then after the 14 day lockout is up you will have a chance to compete with other players for the name on other servers.
I guess my point is, make your first character on the server you intend to play on most because the alternative could create a disaster that will take GMs longer than the 14 day lockout to correct.
Name reservations on the beta servers were a bit wonky to begin with though. There were several times that I used a name, deleted the character immediately remade a character with the same name only to have the name locked out. And that happened more than once so, it's doubtful I was that unlucky. What's more I was never able to use that name through the entirety of beta. The name was locked out completely. There were also instances in which I deleted characters from a particular server only to have the system tell me they still existed.
I am not saying that your suggestion isn't possible. I don't really like the thought that a person can reserve that name across all servers. Sounds like a good way to make money, selling popular names because one has a lock down on them because no one else ever had a chance of getting that name.
it actually wasn't until the later days of wow that you could delete a character & immediately use the name again, there used to be a cool down of sorts like I would expect here. All the more reason to make sure that the name you reserved goes on the server which you will play first & take your chances after that.
So my guild name reservation had too many characters in it. So it was reset. Ah well. The Prolific People Perforaters were not meant to be. I reserved "S A G A"? Iunno.
