Name reservations

OPEN BETA IS UPON US AND THAT MEANS NAME RESERVATION!
We're excited to announce that on May 8th, we will be starting Open Beta! Through May 18th, you'll be able to continue to explore Nexus up to level 30, and get familiar with exploring, fighting and questing as we make our way towards head start and launch!
As part of pre-ordering WildStar, you'll be able to make an even bigger mark on Nexus by registering one character and one guild name prior to launch! That means your desired name will be safer than a datachron in a Draken's dreadlocks. Try saying that three times fast.
The name reservation page will only be available from May 13th through May 23rd, so be sure you check back to the site early so you can get your top choice, as reservations are first come, first serve. We will also have a FAQ section on the name reservation page that'll fill you in on all of your questions, including name restrictions, which servers the name will be saved to, and more.

Added difficulty: I think (if I understand it right re: reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/251osd/names_reserved_globally_across_servers_that_cant/), all names and guild names for the reservation process are game wide, regardless of server due to technical limitations.

So- you grab what names you can, then after the game goes live and you officially pick your server. After a while your reserved names (and everyone elses) will be freed up on all the servers you did not choose.

Going to make it rough for guilds with common'ish names such as Saga.

The powers that be here should decide on back-ups for something suitable should "Saga" be a no go for now. (If the party that gets Saga ends up rolling on say a PvP server.. it's possible Saga could be grabbed at a later time post launch.)

The Saga is the ship we all came to Nexus on together, right? So I think The Saga would work as a backup guild name, though I like how Children of The Saga rolls of the mental tongue.

I agree (not that I have a vote) or Saga's Children also sounds natural. only opinion (even though I have not spoken to Pink Rose's wife for Permission)

I believe that each person gets 1 character name & 1 guild name so multiple names will most likely not be an option. I also think (and I may be wrong because I know only a few here) That it will be Rumze (guild leader) or Val Gith (officer) to reserve the guild name so as not to create confusion & complicate its creation.

Whoever can grab it , do so and let others know . It'll end up being Saga or The Saga. I believe capitalizations don't matter .

Important to note that even if we don't get it during name reservations , we could probably still get it at launch. Name reservations are across all servers but at launch , if the name is used on another server, it frees up the name usage on every other server.

I reserved a copy at GameStop (I insist on disks when I can get them), so I'll be joining the flight to Nexus (though I still plan on playing EQ2 and SWTOR).

They have said they will release more info on an official name reservation page - I've been keeping an eye out for that but nothi yet

A few things to note: In the last two launches I've participated in the servers were active before the stated time. In one the server was open for name reservations well over an hour before the time they stated. Another thing is they have announced, unless they have already changed their mind on this, that names will be on hold for 90 days at launch.

I am not thrilled about name reservation setup at all. I think it's more of a hassle in the end than a benefit. It would have been better if the names had been global and they allowed spaces in names. That way if a name was taken one could simply use a first, last name. As it is one will only have one name for sure.

Say the rest of the names they wish to use for alts are somewhat common names it's likely they will get taken by someone else and they won't be available for 3 months into the game. I would have rather just taken my chances at launch and got most of the names I wanted especially given the fact that the name reservation system goes on for a few days so, that's enough time for people to try out different name combinations.

Oh, as of yesterday Cougar said they are going to reduce the 90 day limit but have not stated by how much. If you click on the Previous Developer Post you can see how they came to that decision.
