The kids and I all three have accounts.  We rarely use the kids' accounts, but no one wants to lose the game entirely.

Is there some way to pay as we go?

There's the EQ2 Passport plan, where you deactivate your spare accounts, then when you want to play, you pay $5 for 3 days. It sounds like it would cost WAY more (it would be $50/month this way), but if you're only playing one weekends a month or less, it makes a lot more sense.

The downside is you can only get the passport once a month, and it's for 3 consecutive days. After that, if you want to game on any of the following 27 days, you'll need to pay the regular subscription cost. It also means you won't progress as fast to Veteran rewards.

That said, I do think this program could be for you, converting at least 2 or 3 of your accounts down to the cost of one and still letting you game with your kids sounds awesome.  O0
