Friday Chat Nights - Continuing (8pm EST, 5pm PST)

Hi all

Raven has suggested a weekly guild chat night. Considering that he's gone and personally secured (and funded) a mumble server for us all to use, we should definitely take advantage of it! I think this is a great idea for several reasons. It will help build cohesion amongst newer and older members going into TOR. It will motivate everyone to figure out how to use mumble in advance of launch. And over and above all else - it's just a good excuse to chat and have fun!

I've picked the time arbitrarily. I know it's a bit early for our west coasters - sorry. I'll be on at 8pm EST but I'd encourage anyone else to log in and stay as long as you feel like.

The address is Saga-ToR.mumble.com and the port is 8319. At some stage we'll probably have to password protect it, but at present there is none.

I was gonna ask what happened with the whole chat server. I still like Team Speak 3 best but I am willing to figure out Mumble. See ya'all Friday.

Very cool. I'll be visiting Nina this weekend, which is perfect because I'll probably need him to set it up for me. I hope to be able to stop in!

Mumble is great once you get used to it. You are WAY too young to start resenting change. Just wait until you're old and kids are surfing around on flying boards and staring off into space because they've got computer monitors on the insides of their contact lens.... THEN you'll have a right to complain about things.

Hey peoples. I got Mumble working today and it is a decent program.

If you are like me and want to use Push To Talk it is not exactly intuitive in the menus. So here goes.

Configure > Settings > Audio Input
Set push to talk.

THEN

Configure > Settings > Shortcuts
Press ADD, right click and set it to Push To Talk, Click on the shortcut area and set it to whatever button you want it to be.

Oddly, it is not located on the same menu as where you set your input style...

Hey all

Well, this is kinda sucky, but I can't be there for the first chat. I'm working until at least 10pm local time. I do law stuff. It's tough to go into too many details. But this is just one of those real life things that come along and complicate our gaming.

Hope you have a good chat, and if on the off chance anyone is still there three hours in (yeah - likely) I'll drop by.

I'll try to remember to check in at both 8 and 10. I warn everyone that I have a cold and so I sound like a chain smoker. I'm also on Dayquil, am drinking coffee and eating Krispy Kreme donuts (at least those that Revin didn't eat). Yay 3-day weekend!

I apologize for the drive-by chatting.
I was in the middle of my weekly D&D game when my sister thrust her laptop at me and said, "Say Hi before Mixxi leaves" So I did.
It was great to hear your ?voice? after all these years.
And for those others in the chat which I ignored, I apologize.
I will be around again and more for sure.

Glad it went well last night with so many people there. To be clear, this is definitely intended as a regular weekly thing, though if the timing is bad for anyone please say something and we can adjust.

Sorry again I missed it. The work situation for me was highly unusual and shouldn't be a regular Friday problem. But it's good to know we're a guild of adults who can relate to the problem and understand.

It was fun to meet old and new friends in the chat. I tend to do better in voice chat during a game (more to talk about for me, usually), but I'll be stopping by for the regular chat, too.

Well, considering the next chat is scheduled for tomorrow and I've just mailed around reminding people of that, I wouldn't want to reschedule this week. But we'll see who gets on tomorrow, discuss with them, and maybe find a better or an alternative time. If nothing else, mixing it up once in a while will be more likely to reach everyone at least part of the time.
