So, what's the Squeeze Box ?

"Squeeze Box" is the title of a song by The Who featuring Pete Townshend's trademark use of sexual innuendo. It first appeared on the album The Who By Numbers. The song's musical feel recalls the pop songs of the early British Invasion, and its upbeat character is in stark contrast to the despairing tone of the rest of that album. "Squeeze Box" also features the only banjo solo on any Who record to date.

While a squeezebox is indeed, an accordion, there is a differentiation made by accordion players.  The true "accordion" is the large-ish device with a full keyboard

while a squeezebox is actually the smaller accordion sans keyboard:


A small differentiation, I'm sure, as a lookup of "squeezebox" on the web will reveal pictures of both.  But it's a subtlety that's becoming lost in modern language.

Innuendo has always been a time honered tradition amongst songwriters.

The Squeezebox song is probably one of the better examples of lyrics that, dependant upon the state of mind of whom reads them .. can be highly innocent and highly naughty at the same time.

And that, of course, is the point
