Firefly Reunion on SyFy (correction--Science Channel) last night

Oh my gosh. I had no clue that somewhere in a back room at ComicCon these guys were all sitting around shooting the breeze about the show. No wonder they were so emotional for the panel.

We made watching it a family event last night (including Antronna and Temus, yay!), and it was great but frustrating, too. I wanted to hear from Joss. I wanted to know more about Book. But I loved how they all were really listening to each other, thinking about what was said. I've watched a lot of "cast extras" on DVDs, and no matter how much the cast loves their show, they don't seem as intent as these guys did. And this is TEN years after cancellation. Clearly, this was something special to these guys. In fact, it kept reminding me of how things are with Saga people when we get together in RL. There's that shared "family" feeling, and I saw it on several faces last night--particularly Nathan's of course, but definitely Sean Maher's, which kind of surprised me. Actors are pretty good at holding their faces to expressions that look good and poised. Maher kind of abandoned that and was very unguarded in his expressions, especially during the panel clips. It was refreshing but made me feel a bit voyeuristic, like I was eavesdropping on a private conversation.

The other thing that really became obvious in last night's clips was how similar Jayne is to Raven.  ;D More than once last night they'd show a Jayne clip and I'd say, "Oh my gosh, that's RAVEN" and Antronna and Temus would agree. Temus also retold the cat story last night, Raven, so you were with us in spirit...incredibly angry, frustrated spirit.

WAIT! What was this? Was it a show? Where can I see it now?
I missed it!!

I suspect I saw this on YouTube a while ago. It was truly touching.

Pinkie, try combining the words "10 year reunion" and "firefly" in YouTube and see what comes up. I can't promise they're identical but from what Mixxi's saying it sounds like what I would have seen.

Their emotion was actually really surprising, even this long after the cancellation. Fox was a homewrecker.

Mixxi

It was the Science Channel, not Syfy. And it's not the ComicCon reunion panel--it's an actual hour-long show that they shot backstage at ComicCon. They do include snippets of the panel, but the focus is on them just sitting around a wooden table talking about the good old days. Nathan is very much the dad.

It's on the front page of the Science site right now. I highly recommend the "Captain No-Pants" aka "Naked Nathan Fillion" link.  http://science.discovery.com/

I watched it last night too. Being a Firefly geek, who has watched almost every Firefly panel/interview on YouTube, the only thing that was really new to me was Inara Serra's planned story line.
EQ1-FV: Fnortner, Grimwyrd, Fumoto, and army of alts. BDO: Salamandros. GW2: Arkturo. EQ2: Panacea. RIFT: Nock. SWTOR: Croaker.

My new favourite clip is Surprise Guest.

BTW, it's on at 2am again tonight, or rather Tuesday Morning. DVR is Set!!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention Mixxi.
I can't believe I missed this.

Oh really? Brand new secret stuff? Sigh. I hope this gets put online at some point as I'd love to see it. We don't get that channel here.

A little jealous right now. I did watch those clips on the Science Channel website, good stuff.

Edit: I believe the rogue in me has acquired something that may be what we're talking about here. Yes, thank you for bringing it up, Mixxi.

Wow. That was heart warming.

Firefly is a mixed bag for me. I remember seeing the show when it was airing in the U.S. I was one of those few original fans (I'm rather proud of that), one of the people that looked at people incredulously when they saw Serenity but had no idea there was a television series that started it all.

I just did that to my boss the other day, actually.

The injustice. How obviously crushed everyone was when they were unfairly cancelled. It breaks my heart and that pain, evident on the cast and crew even today, let alone the fans, keeps me from rewatching the show too often. I feel for the potential stories that were silenced before they could begin and this documentary really highlighted that.

The flip side of that, though, is the stories that were told and remain (with hope) to be told, the feeling of family within the crew and the cast. It all makes me warm and fuzzy. The fact they weren't afraid to tell an adult tale for a change, rather than sugar coat everything. This world was dark with bright patches but that made it all the more interesting.

This documentary was the pre-cursor to the YouTube video I saw. I had no idea they had such an intense discussion in the back room before the panel. Wow. I'm glad we got to see it.

I'm late to the game. Still possible to watch this?

If so, where and when?

Keep checking the Science Channel listings.

The Title is "Firefly 10th Anniversary: Browncoats Unite"
It reran at 2am on Tuesday morning, and looking at the listing, it just ran at 7pm tonight.
I'm guessing since the Science channel doesn't have tons of programming, it will run again soon.
