Hey all!  Just chucking out an easy one for some.   I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks to Delaware, and I know we have some folks in the area.. roughly at least.   Where's the best food?  What should I see?  What should I do?    Most of my days will be spent having a cocktail and watching the sun float across the sky with a line in the water, but I want to hear some ideas.    Miss you all

I'm in northern Virginia, which is fairly close - I can double check with some friends who are actually *from* Delaware, too. 

The biggest thing to try is the crabs of course - she crab soup (if you can find it), crab cakes, or soft-shell crabs.  This might be heresy, but you could try to find a Philly cheesesteak (or just a steak sandwich there) - it won't be Pat's of course, but depending on where you're from it might be close enough.

I think there are supposed to be some decent bars and maybe even a speakeasy there.

Mostly though, just beach - not sure there are huge amounts to do outside of that there.  There's a *HUGE* RenFaire in the area - second biggest in the country I think - called the Maryland Renaissance Festival as well.  Highly recommend it, if you'll be out when it's open. Enjoy!

Cheese steak in Delaware?  Heresy is right!  I'm am assuming you are beach or bay bound and not heading to my neck of the woods (PA but 30ish minutes from the PA/Delaware/Maryland border).

I love Lewes Delaware, quiet, family friendly, easily bike-able, crabbing and clamming and bringing the food home to cook with newspapers all over the big kitchen table.  Yum!  That was my childhood.  My grandparents rented there and we actually crabbed with chicken legs and nets off the side of my grandfather's  boat. 

I would say you have a good plan with being at the end of a fishing line and watching the sun over the water.

I do live in MD and I've never spent ANY time in Delaware.

So, here's MY suggestion.

Dicey, Auren, Merila, Blaek and I should all meet up with Cy and have some fun! Holy heck, I had no IDEA so many friends lived near me 

If the MD Ren fest is going on, that IS the place to meet. Such fun there and Blaek hasn't gone yet. 

Can we get a meet up organized??

I wish I had the chance to meet up, that would have been great.  Spent the last week just outside Lewes at Broadkill Beach, so quiet and pleasant.  Hopefully I can catch some folks next time
