@Pink: To prevent accidents?  Or perhaps the point is to just make it pointier.

Some really beautiful things. X-wings are stunning.

And the lighting in some of the scenes...mmmmmmm.

Highlighting doesn't work on my iPad, but I assume you guys are referring to the thing that is Mixxi's favorite item in the universe.

That is a travesty. Just sayin'. This is not GalaxyRim.

Mixxi's favorite item in the universe.

Han Solo wearing a pair of criss-crossed bootlaces tied together in a signature Mixxi-knot?  I missed that scene.

However, this lends a new perspective on Harrison Ford's knee injury.

I understand he used to be an adventurer until that happened.

Lyrima

Ok. So is this a prequel to the first Star Wars? Or after? I say before because the 'force awakens' Blaek says after.

What say you?

This will be set some number of years (IMDB says 30) after Return of the Jedi--with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford reprising their original roles.  "Force Awakens" refers to something still under much speculation.

I don't like that guy's lightsaber. It looks like flame. The edges are too rough. It should me a smooth blade contained by a containment force field. Which is how lightsabers work...

SW:TOR - Tecta (Dark) / ValGith (Light)
Diablo 3 - Alpharius #1269
Wildstar - Tecta
Lost Ark (NA East-Avesta) - Gith

FFXIV (NA-Cactaur) - Gith Redmayne

Mixxi

OK. After reading up on the extended-universe lore on sabers with unstable crystals, I kind of like the thing. And I'm in the "exhaust vents" camp. If they are indeed vents, I think angling them to avoid the "broadsword" look would have been good, though.

I keep coming back to the x-wings, though. That shot was perfection.

And someone needs to explain to me why "no one knows how to make a lightsaber" anymore. (Well, apparently except for Luke.) The Jedi aren't just an oral tradition order. And you can't convince me that there aren't non-force-using scholars who wrote extensively about lightsaber construction. I bet there are a few hundred doctoral thesis on lightsaber construction piling up in the databanks of every university.

I think you need the force to properly align your crystal which is why some dark side guys have very unstable sabers.

I vaguely remember something like that. That's why Jedi always use the force to construct them.

Also, damn it's looking good. I'm with Mixxi, them X-Wings... it's like the prequels never happened. Okay, the soccer ball droid was a bit weird...

PinkRose

I just read the R2-D20 was an original droid from episode 4, but didn't make the cut then.
I think it makes way more sense on a desert plant then a droid with wheels.

Corsair

Wheelie droid - okay.

Broadsword light sabre - not okay. (Unstable rough look is fine by me...venting even okay...but the angle is very bad. Makes it look like they had a meeting based on the question: "Okay we don't want to use the double bladed sabre again, it's been done, but we need to do another special Sith sable geometry...oh! How about a broadsword?)

X-wings - Brilliant as noted by many. The visuals of them over the water were....a joy.

The Millennium Falcon - Also good. Really Good. I think I am gonna be okay with older Han. I need it to work. Bring back the bromance value to Star Wars. The jet trails off of the edge when it is flying in atmo....yeah.

Despite how much I truly detested Star Trek Into Darkness...I am just going to have to have faith here it won't get buggered up badly. Please JJ......make it good. (If nothing else, just emulate Kershner maybe.)
SWTOR - Buck Dharma
EQ on FV - Beren Fellhand
EQ2 - Oozag, Tavi, Hamhock, others.
Vanguard - Fenris, Grishnak
Horizons - Belail
Rift - Dominic Thorne
EQ Phinigel - Kiran, Trajak

I've nothing against a lightsaber having a crossguard, I just don't understand why it could not just be made out of cortosis instead of those silly crossguard-saber-thingies.  ???

Also found the teaser a bit dull, but I am sure the movie will be alright.

PinkRose

Jhared, I also found it uninteresting.
Star Wars Ep. VII I'm excited for, but this trailer didn't make me more excited.
Nothing like the Jurassic World or Avengers 2 trailers.

Seeing a Star Wars trailer that actually looks like Star Wars again isn't interesting?  :P

Also, I must be the only one that doesn't really care about the lightsaber crossguard thing. Unless the crossguard is going to talk in a funny accent, get into all kinds of shenanigans, and save the day through slapstick, I think we're okay.

Jhared

Oh, I don't really care either, Sroth. I just find it a little silly and don't really understand their decision.

Technically it is a teaser, although I'm not too sure about the difference. A teaser is meant to get you interested and a trailer excited? ???

Teasers are pre-hype hype. It's like a road sign saying "30 miles to the road sign you're looking for". Then 30 miles later, you get the road sign pointing you where you want to go. Unnecessary? Well, probably. But who cares, we'll take it.  :exXO:

So they're like cafeteria signs on the highway, got it. :D

One wonders if fandom freaked out as much when the concept of a crossguard lightsaber (though executed slightly differently) was originally introduced in the Expanded Universe?  To me, this just seems like it was something borrowed from its own family of material.  Doesn't bother me a lick.

In my opinion, this gentleman has put the issue to rest entirely.  Were it biologically possible, I'd freely volunteer to "bear" his geek babies.  ;D
